Continuous seamless gutters are extruded to custom lengths
on site using a portable machine. If you are hiring a professional
to do your installation, it's worth the extra investment for seamless.
PROS: No leaks at the seams because there are none.
Sections are joined only at the corners and downspouts.
Sectional gutters
Sectional gutters are predominantly used in do-it-yourself
kits available at home improvement stores; some distributors use
these systems as well since the cost to enter the market as a small
business is much lower. PROS: Easy to install CONS: improper installation
can create more problems than having no gutters; typically need regular
maintenance and cleaning which most people don't do, again causing
more problems than having no gutters
gutter sizes- gutters come
in 4", 5", and 6" diameters.
gutter downspouts sizes-
2" X 3" and 3" X
4" rectangular
and 3" and 4" round pipes. The size needed is determined
by regional weather.
gutter colors- gutters come in a wide variety of colors.
If you are considering gutter covers, which may not have as many
color choices, be sure to look at both gutters and gutter covers
at the same time.
